The main aim of the research centre is to bring together the complementary expertise (Social science, computing and engineering, and humanities) to develop an Affective and Human Computing for Smart Spaces (AHSCE). Affect recognition is the process of understanding what type of emotion a person is experiencing. Emotions perform a significant function in personal or social communication and can be conveyed verbally by words or expressed by non-verbal signs such as facial expressions and gestures.
